Project Description
This was a series first published in German by the German Bible Society. When the United Bible Societies published the English editions, I was asked to design the covers. The goal was to package the Scriptures into trade paperbacks similar to those found in airport bookstores.
One challenge in this project is that the main titles were changed after the design process was done. In some cases, this meant starting over!
I’ve tried to include images from the design process. I usually begin with word lists, not sketches. These lists are based on the book title or main concept. Ideas generated are then turned into crude thumbnail sketches. Only after that, do I turn to the computer to execute everything. As I’ve said many times in workshops: Computers don’t help you do good design. They help you do bad design faster.
